A favourite of Absolutely Hertfordshire, we catch up with Charles Elliott, founder of Elliott of London in Berkhamsted, to discover how you can bring his stunning sculptures into your own home
How have things been going at Elliott of London since we featured you last year?
It’s been pretty productive here. We’ve had time to be creative and keep pushing the sculpture boundaries – we’ve been lucky to explore lots of new locations on some of our installs and we’ve also teamed up with a few new outlets across the UK, which enables us to showcase our sculptures far and wide for everyone to enjoy. We’ve launched our new website and we are loving being able to be more interactive with new and old clients, being able to share our blogs really helps us tell the stories of our sculptures. We’ve also collaborated our Bronze Sculpture range with our other sculptures meaning it all much easier to see and find.
What have been the new, big sculptures you have worked on?
We have super exciting sculptures that we are working on at the moment and all will soon be revealed – bigger is better, but all we can say for now! We also had the honour of working alongside two big companies producing some stunning public art, which will soon be placed in Hertfordshire.
Is there a particular design that is in real demand right now?
We are finding that our Spheres and Spirals are really popular. With a larger range of sizes and patinations including the wonderful new matte black and copper patina, we are able to provide a really wide spectrum to all of our clients, which can suit anyone’s garden or outdoor spaces. The flexibility of all of our sculptures being totally handmade in our Hertfordshire studio means that you as a customer can really have and get exactly what you want.
With summer here, what pieces do you create that can be perfect for a Hertfordshire home?
We love all of our art, but for home gardens we believe any of the sculptures with illumination kits really do provide that something extra to every garden we install in. Even just one of our Watching Fox sculptures with uplighting can bring a garden to life – or a statement piece like one of our Verdigris & Golds Spheres will give that extra edge. The fire pits and planters are always a winner in the summer months as we all just love those summer evenings and our gardens so we tend to see a few more of those head out the studio doors.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves for this year and lots of exciting commission sculptures to start, along with a piece of public art for Hertford very soon – we also have a wedding to organise here so it’s all very exciting and busy!
